NC, ilk olarak Amerikan Ulusal Standartlar Enstit\u00fcs\u00fc’ndeki (ANSI) di\u011fer in\u015faat uzmanlar\u0131 ve akustik m\u00fchendisleriyle birlikte MEP (mekanik, elektrik ve tesisat) m\u00fchendisleri taraf\u0131ndan geli\u015ftirilmi\u015ftir. Zaman i\u00e7erisinde ISO (Uluslararas\u0131 Standartlar Te\u015fkilat\u0131) ve ASA (Amerika \u0130statistik\u00a0 Enstit\u00fcs\u00fc) \u2019 de benzer kriterler yay\u0131nlam\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.<\/p>\n
G\u00fcr\u00fclt\u00fc kriteri (NC), bir frekans aral\u0131\u011f\u0131nda belirli bir alandaki g\u00fcr\u00fclt\u00fc seviyesini tan\u0131mlamak i\u00e7in tek bir indeks kullanmaktad\u0131r. Tek bir NC numaras\u0131, 63 Hz ila 8.000 Hz aras\u0131ndaki oktav band\u0131 merkez frekanslar\u0131 aral\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 kapsayan benzersiz bir e\u011friyi temsil eder.<\/p>\n

Her e\u011fri, belirli bir NC de\u011feri i\u00e7in ula\u015f\u0131labilecek maksimum oktav bant bas\u0131nc\u0131 d\u00fczeyini belirtmektedir. \u00d6l\u00e7\u00fclen oktav bant bas\u0131nc\u0131, NC e\u011frileri \u00fczerinde i\u015faretlenir ve en b\u00fcy\u00fck e\u011friye yak\u0131n olan NC de\u011feri \u00f6l\u00e7\u00fcm\u00fc yap\u0131lan ortam\u0131n NC de\u011ferini belirler.
